This section will help you understand what the different subscriber options are, and how to obtain assistance if you have any trouble. There are also some Rules of Conduct expected of all List members (these rules apply to both lists), as shown in the List Rules page, which is recommended reading. There is a page explaining why the great majority of other List members would prefer you to post only plain text e-mails to the list.
What is an E-Mail Discussion List?
Somewhere on the Internet, there is a list of subscribers (the members), and when a member sends (or posts) an e-mail message to the list's e-mail address (Savage_Worlds@lythia.com), a copy of the message is sent to everyone on that list. Other subscribers can reply to the e-mail, and these too will go to the list and from there out to all subscribers. Thus, an extended conversation can be carried out between members via e-mail.
The distribution of these e-mail messages is carried out by a list server, a piece of software running on a computer somewhere on the Internet (this one is hosted on a server in Los Angeles). The list server also has facilities to allow people to subscribe and unsubscribe, change the way e-mail messages from other members are delivered to them, and also carry out various other functions.
